The Borehole, Stone
Our branch pub of the year 2024 – The Borehole, Stone
Situated on part of the site of what was Bents Brewery, The Borehole is the Lymestone Brewery Tap.
The brewery occupies part of the tower building that was Bents brewery. Bents took their water from a borehole near to the site of the pub – hence the unique pub name.
The Borehole was converted from what was believed to be Bents offices and after going through metamorphoses became the Lymestone tap in 2015.
The pub and the brewery are a family concern run by Ian Bradford and daughter Sarah, pictured here with their pub of the year certificate and trophy.
Inside is an eclectic set of furniture with two rooms with a log-burner in-between – snug on those Winter’s days.
Alongside a range of Lymestone’s beers there is often locally sourced guest beers. Food is served through most of the day comprising sandwiches, pork pies, cheese selection and, best of all, excellent Staffordshire Oatcakes.
Dogs and children are welcome both in the pub and in the rear walled beer garden, there’s also seating outside the front
The pub has been branch pub of the year on numerous occasions and holds a host of other awards. To find this little gem – from Stone town, walk towards Stone railway station but carry on for a couple of hundred metres over the level crossing and you’ll find it on your right hand side.
