Villagers trying to save The Labour in Vain in Yarnfield
The Labour in Vain Working Group are pressing ahead with plans to buy the pub
As well as the £365,000 Stonegate Group are asking for the freehold pub, the group estimate they will need to raise over £235,000 more in order to renovate the building.
The hope is to raise this through grant applications and donations. Shares would be offered in a new company ‘Yarnfield and Cold Meece Community Limited’.
In June 2023, Stafford Borough Council accepted the nomination by Yarnfield and Cold Meece Parish Council to include the Labour in Vain in its list of assets of community value, although planning permission has already been approved to build three homes on the pub car park.
The group have set up a ‘Save our Pub’ petition HERE – Signing up to the petition is the best way to be kept up to date with developments.
There is also a PLEDGE FORM which at this stage is being used to establish how much the community is willing to invest to make the project work. No money changes hands at this stage, and it is not any form of commitment. More financial information and details of the proposals will be provided in due course before you decide whether you would like to make a donation or buy shares.
