See more about this pub on WhatPub, CAMRA's national pub guide.

A thriving traditional two-roomed alehouse within walking distance of the town centre. There is a small front room with television and darts board and a larger rear room which includes the restaurant. The beer range may vary. Cask Ale Club, darts, dominoes and cribbage on Mondays, quiz on Wednesdays, poker night on Thursdays, live entertainment on most Saturdays. Food is locally sourced wherever possible. There is a cask ale loyalty card available, buy 8 pints and get the 9th free. The pub was originally called the Spital Brook and was renamed the Crown in about 1837. In 1998 it reverted to almost the original name.
